Today’s blog post goes out to all of the Black women who “hold it down like a thousand pounds.” What does this mean? Keep reading and I’ll explain…
In today’s world, with the shortage of mentally mature men, or men who have a real and true knowledge of Self, our women (as I’ve said many times before) have been thrust into roles that in times past they have not had to play. Examples: Head of household, provider, protector, a counselor and coach to our sons and daughters and the list goes on and on. The beauty in all this is the fact that she adds those roles to the ones that she plays by her divine nature. Mother, first teacher of our offspring, nurturer, nurse, healer, confidant, companion, help-mate, lover, friend, she cooks, she cleans, she’s sometimes an employee and at all times she’s a Boss!!!
When a woman wears this many crowns and transitions between these roles with so much ease that you can never tell when she’s switched, it is a testament of her strength of character; her divine ONENESS with the MOST HIGH GOD and certainly a testament of her strength. I see daily that our women are under-estimated and undervalued. Yet and still, she not only survives, but thrives in the diversity of her responsibilities and does so with all of the elegance of the Queen she really is.
I’ll take my Queen for example. She is the ultimate sacrificer, and multitasker and she does these things with so much ease with her head held high. She works a full time job, is a full time mom, manages my life and both of our businesses and has been putting in the work to launch her own venture. (“Godyss Purse” A collection of elegant, yet affordable handbags that will allow every Queen to express her inner Goddess without breaking her bank.) While she does this amazing juggling act of life, she also deals with the oh so demanding job of being the wife of an Alpha male. (If you are one or ever dealt with one, you know how demanding that job can be.)
I give my wife big praise for the things I see her doing, yet she is not alone. The majority of black women have similar storylines. They may differ in the details, but her holding it down for the family and inspiring those she comes in contact with along the way is something that should never go unnoticed. I’m here today to say thank you Black Woman and I truly love and appreciate all that you are.
I have built a network of friends who qualify for an honorable mention as a Hustler-N-Heelz, but for the sake of time and space, I’ll leave it at this… My hat goes off to the Black Women who hold the torch of womanhood high above their heads and screams “Here I AM!!!” with her actions more so than her words. I love you in a pure way because we are reflections of each other and when I see you shine, I don’t run from or try to dim your light, I point it out in an attempt to get everyone to see The Immeasurable Value and Effortless Beauty of The Black Woman!!! Keep grinding and shining Queens because if it wasn’t for you, our civilization as a people would indeed be lost. ✊🏾
This will be a continuous blog/conversation and I welcome comments and even criticism because both will create a much needed dialogue. I’ll add to it every Sunday until I reach the climax of it and bring to light some things that we know, but don’t realize that we know; and in doing so, bring about real and viable solutions for us as a whole to begin healing our family units and communities. Until next Sunday
Shane Shepherd.
